How to Join

The VFC will not be holding formal auditions.  While some musical background helps, interested members will be asked to sing, in order to help us place you in a voice part.  Please contact us with any questions or concerns.  Some of the exercises you may be asked to perform might include:

  • Vocalizing up and down to hear your range and tone. Singers often are placed in specific voice parts based on tone and color of the voice.
  • Memory - hearing a melody on the piano and then singing it back.
  • Basic Sight-Reading
  • Prepared Music - Bring a piece of music that you know, a song, aria, or hymn of your choice. Singers are asked to bring an extra copy of the solo for the accompanist.

Expectations for Chorale Members

  • Ability to learn music independently and not only by ear
  • Previous experience singing in a community, school, or church choir
  • Regularly attend weekly Tuesday night rehearsals (7:30—9:30 pm) from September through May
    • Rehearsals currently located at Lower Providence Presbyterian Church, Trooper, PA
    • A maximum of three missed rehearsals is allowed during each concert period. Singers who miss more than three must meet with the Artistic Director to make sure they are prepared.
  • Payment of Annual dues of $130
    • Dues are paid by Semester – Half in the Fall (September) and Half in the Spring (January)
    • Women are required to purchase the VFC Concert Dress Uniform ($85)

VFC is always looking and is very grateful for volunteers who help behind the scenes. You do not need to be a singing member to become involved. We welcome help in several areas including receptions & hospitality, grant writing, publicity & advertising, travel logistics & venues, and fundraising.
